2005-2009 Ford Mustang Repair Manual:Engine (4.0L V6):Valve covers

Left valve cover

1. Remove ignition coil assembly
2. Remove the fuel rail supply line bracket assembly
3. Disconnect the PCV hose from the valve cover
4. Disconnect electrical connector at the camshaft position sensor
5. Disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor connector
6. Remove the valve cover bolts and lift the valve cover off. tap gently with a soft faced mallet if necessary to break gasket seal

Right valve cover

1. Disconnect the electrical connector and the tube from the valve cover
2. Disconnect the heater hose retainer from the side of the valve cover
3. Remove the wiring harness bracket bolt and the mounting bracket from the rear of the valve cover
4. Remove the valve cover bolts and lift the valve cover off. cap Gemini with a soft based knowledge if necessary to break the gasket seal.

Installation

1. If gasket it is in good condition it can be reused
2. Clean the gaskets surfaces with a shop rag and acetone or lacquer thinner.
3. Follow removal steps in reverse to reinstall

Torque specifications

• Valve cover bolts - 89 inch pounds
