2005-2009 Ford Mustang Repair Manual:Maintenance schedule

This is the maintenance schedule for the 2005 through 2009 Mustang. These checks and changes should be completed as near as possible to these intervals to keep your vehicle in top running order.

  • Note: if you drive under more severe conditions than normal, these times should be shortened accordingly.

Every week or 250 miles (400 km)[edit | edit source]

  • Check tire pressure and tires
  • Check oil level
  • Check clutch and brake fluid levels
  • Check coolant level
  • Check washer fluid level
  • Check power steering fluid level

Every 3 months or 3000 miles (5000 km)[edit | edit source]

  • All of the above and...
  • Change the oil and filter
  • Rotate the tires

Every 6 months or 7500 miles (10-12,000 km)[edit | edit source]

  • All of the above and...
  • Look over cooling system
  • Check battery

Every 12 months or 15,000 miles (25,000 km)[edit | edit source]

  • All of the above and...
  • Check transmission fluid level
  • Check differential oil level
  • Replace air filters (interior and engine)
  • Check, and replace as necessary, all hoses (fuel, coolant, vacuum, PS, brake, etc.)
  • Inspect steering, suspension and brake components

Every 24 months or 30,000 miles (50,000 km)[edit | edit source]

  • All of the above and...
  • Check belts
  • Change fuel filter
  • Change brake and clutch fluid

Every 48 months or 60,000 miles (100,000 km)[edit | edit source]

  • All of the above and...
  • Check ignition components (spark plugs, plug wires, coils)
  • Change the oil in manual transmission and differential

Every 100,000 miles (160,000 km)[edit | edit source]

  • Replace the PCV valve
  • Replace the spark plugs
  • Drain, flush ,and fill the cooling system
  • Change automatic transmission fluid
