Over 10,000 Pages Plus New Homepage
So we are now over 10,00 pages!! We also have over 100,000 uploaded images making Gearhead Wiki the largest automotive wiki on the web! There are a lot of backend things going on making sure everything is working perfectly from a server standpoint. Next on the list is a homepage revamp which will be out in the next few days making it easier for people to get started and understand the Gearhead Wiki mission. 5000 Pages!!
Short post. We just hit 5000 pages! The 5000th page was 1977 Cadillac Eldorado Brochure in case you were wondering. Gearhead (talk) 18:12, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
First Blog post
So I've been thinking that a blog is in order. Wasn't sure whether I should set up a separate wordpress blog or just use the wiki for it. I think for now I'll use this wiki page.
What's Been Going On
For the past few months I've pretty much been full time adding information to the site. I realized a while back that "If you build it, they will come' doesn't apply to a bare website with an idea. So I've been building a database information and rough structure of pages. I've also been tackling the back end server stuff. The site is now off of the old shared hosting and on it's own server. This has made the site way faster as well as more robust and able to handle more traffic. There was also a lot of cleanup work to be done to make the site less cluttered but also to increase visibility in search engines.
What's next?
I have a store of information that I've gathered over the years being a Gearhead that I'll continue to add to the site as fast as I can. I am continuing to check on the search engine health. Good news is that our rankings are getting better, bad news is there is always more that can be done.
